interface cut scene
On my interface I want there to be "Loading" and "Redirecting" cut scenes in btween menu screens. These animations only have to be a few seconds long and at the moment I'm sure that they are only going to consist of what you see above and the only thing that will actually be going on in the video would be the rectangle of the loading bar would be masked on a path, moving towards the right hand side of the box, and the dots after loading will be on an opacity key frame to make them flash, 1 after another. I think a little touch like this will make a nice difference to how the menu is actually used!
Menu Interface
So using textures and a uniform design hierarchy Ive designed this menu interface to resemble a sci fi computer interface to go with my theme. Personally I think these visuals really sit well in the context of the sci-fi channel. I want to put cut scenes in between the main menu and the next brach off menus for selection and also when you backtrack to the menu screen. I think if done correctly this will enhance the look and feel of my overall product and also shows my knowledge of DVD pro. The sci fi angle I'm coming from is that of a grimey, feel. This keeps with the films which are feauturing in my motion graphics, for example district 9.

Rationale For Movie season idents
Sorry this post is a little late, but better late than never!
I have chosen sci- fi season as my genre, and I have decided that my target audience is the people who watch the schi fi channel, because that way I can fit my design straight into a context. I also want to design an identity for my dvd interface which my idents will sit within. I want to do this because I feel that it would give the overall thing a better context and also just make it more fun to interact with and have.
I've come up with a logo "Selfaware Systems" I want to have a few cut scenes on my dvd interface in between menu selections which include this logo, so as an extra if i get time, I want to produce a short like 5 second Ident for selfaware systems.
Back to sci fi season, The 5 films I have chosen are:
Im confident I can create some strong visuals for these films, and also be able to produce some fitting sounds to really boost the quality of the overall look and feel of the idents. I intend to produce soundscapes for my idents including samples from the films and also audio samples I have in my own library.
I also hope to actually make the packaging for this "selfaware systems" DVD. Its all coming together pretty nicely in my head.

Studio crit (Storyboard Postcards)
These were the treatments i did for the studio crit (5x6 A6 size storyboard stills representing what will go on in my animations.) The feedback I got didnt really tell me anything I dont already know, I think I just have to get on with it now and refine how the bits slot together. I think this will be easily done once I have got a full set of assets and can get onto after effects properly. I will do another post on this subject once I have all my assets done!
