Brainstorming The book fair Brief, initial ideas.

So here are the results of a brainstorming session for subject matter and content for the manchester book fair. I decided I wanted my subject matter to be unusual and interesting. For two reasons - because it will make for really interesting design which will be engaging to the audience, and will hopefully make me some money.

After narrowing down a few intial ideas , the subject matter I have chosen to run with is Deep sea fish, but more specifically the subject of pressureized recovery and the finds deep sea explorers have made using this technique. I don't think its neccessary to beat around the bush here by developing a few ideas, because the content I have chosen and started refining is quite broad.

My exact contents will be:

Cover
Contents
Testimonial - Brief paragraph outlining what pressurized recovery is and its relevance to the contents of the publication.
15 - 20 pages cataloging deep sea fish found using P/R & Deep sea exploration. This section will include each fishes:
- Latin name & name
- Genus/ Species classification
- Attributes & Survival instincts, e.g, Bioluminescance, sonar, camoflage
- The natural pressure the fish can sustain life at (adds relevance)
- When it was first discovered
A glossary of terms (since Im using latin terminologies)
My contact details and maybe even a little preface about me & my practise.

This will probably change as time goes on and I find out more about this specific subject area.

As you can see in the last image I have also started thinking about how to tackle things like layout for the front cover, and also the idea of pictograms for the cover and pages. I think it would be useful to use immidiate and striking illustration for the cover - nothing overly detailed, as that could go inside the actual publication in the catalogue section.
