Digital sleeves

I decided for the digital sleeves that I was going to use what I already had in order to produce them. This being:
  • A set colour scheme for each artist identity
  • A set typeface
  • A set amount of content at a fixed point size (including logo)

Here are the designs for digital record artworks in their context. This shows that they are working well scaled down.

These images came from the photography trip I went on, but beforehand, I had made a set of different sleeves with imagery I had sourced form the internet, which looked like this.

Despite the clairty of the image, nice duotone, and a nice type hierarchy obviously the logo has changed dramatically since this ( i actual fact I ended up running with a totally different logo) Which changed my design direction at this point and also is what moved me into making the more successful record sleeves and stickers. But it was good to make these and see them in context because it gave me a clear idea of how little actually needs to be on a digital record sleeve because all the other information can be put in the "get info" box for the details of the track. The imagery for the sleeve now acts as purely an identity which is what was needed.

  1. I think the new logo is much more immediate and effective than the old one. I also think the photos you've taken are well shot and well re-worked. I would try a range of layouts, just for the sake of demonstrating you've explored them, even if you go back to this layout, which does work perfectly well.
