Images I want to use - record stickers + layouts for image masking on record sleeves.

The 12" record stickers I produced were well recieved and one of the reasons because of the imagery on them, which was macro shots of trees from below, looking up. Selective cropping made the images look like landscapes, which worked well, and I took/ selected these images with this idea in mind.

The textural qualities of these images, with the deep areas of darkness and ridged areas of the bark will look really good once I have done some selective cropping and then dropped a duotone colourway on them.

Experiments for the front of the record label, because the other three will follow a a uniform look, the layout will be consistant throughout based on the one I have chosen. The simple type in the center is immediate and effective because the whole name of the artist is there and the logo is not. I think the logo would be better on the back with the rest of the extra information. Having the logo on the front detracts from the overall look of the sleeve cover, it makes it less immidiate, however the huge letter H on its own works nicely too, but I wouldnt want to use this because of its ambiguity.

some experiments with layout for the backs of the record sleeves. As you can see, it starts to get messy quickly because of the information I am wanting to include. For me there are three that work well here, the 1st, the last and the 5th (bottom right) because of the distribution of space around the type. The 1st works the best in conjunction with the front cover because the type is central and matches the front cover visually.
